On July 14, 1970, Pete Rose provided one of the most memorable moments in All-Star Game history when he crashed into Ray Fosse at home plate to score the winning run in the All-Star Game. The game was held in Riverfront Stadium, just over two weeks after the park opened on June 30, in front of a crowd of 51,838, including President Richard Nixon, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
