The Redskins led, 9-7, at halftime before the Giants scored two third quarter touchdowns to take a 21-9 lead. Mark Moseley kicked a 21 yard field with just under 6 ½ minutes left in the game and Joe Theisman’s 30 yard touchdown pass to Charlie Brown cut the deficit to 21-18 with 3:29 to go. Joe Washington’s 5 yard touchdown run with 1:38 left completed the Redskins’ comeback in their 25-21 victory.

Joe Theismann was 19 for 29, for 214 TD, and 1 TD. Eli Manning went 22 for 36, for 332 yards and 2 TD for the Giants. Hakeem Nicks had 9 receptions for 144 yards for the Giants. Theisman threw for 335 yards, on 22 for 36, with 1 TD and 2 interceptions. Eli Manning was 20 for 40, for 278 yards, with 2 TD, 2 INT. John Riggins gained 79 yards on 14 carries while Washington had 54 yards on 17 carries. Don Warren had 7 receptions for 110 yards while Ark Monk had 6 receptions for 78 yards and Charlie Brown had 3 receptions for 79 yards. Hakeem Nicks had 5 receptions for 126 yards for the Giants while Victor Cruz and Ahmed Bradshaw both caught TD passes. Both QBs were sacked 5 times.

The Redskins advance to the second round, to play a yet to be determined opponent.
