The Steelers took a 17-6 lead into halftime before Cordarrelle Patterson returned the second half kickoff 97 yards and Stephen Gostkowski’s 3rd field goal of the game gave the Patriots the lead later in the quarter. But, Franco Harris’ 2 yard TD run early in the fourth quarter and Roy Gerela’s 2nd field goal late in the game gave the Steelers a 27-16 win.
Harris ran for 169 yards on 26 carries and 2 TD. The Steelers ran for a total of 235 yards, with Rocky Bleier adding 43 on 11 carries. Terry Bradshaw threw for just 75 yards: 8 for 19, with 1 TD, 1 INT. Lynn Swann caught five of those passes, for 64 yards and a TD. Tom Brady was 23 for 50, for 238 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT. The Steel Curtain sacked Brady 5 times while holding the Patriots to 51 yards rushing on 13 carries.
